NIHR values national efforts to evacuate citizens abroad

Manama, Apr. 28 (BNA): The Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee in the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) chaired by Maria Khoury, valued the national efforts to evacuate citizens abroad, especially after the decision to expedite these measures in order to ensure their return as soon as possible.
NIHR committee praised the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, First Deputy Prime Minister, in using Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier in the evacuation process.
Khoury informed the members of the measures taken by activating the service of providing remote medical advice to the residence of the centers and describing the appropriate treatment for them, in an effort to preserve the health and safety of residence and individuals.
The committee asserted that such precautionary measures contribute to improving the quality of services provided to the residents of those centers, especially medical services from them, thus enhancing human rights in general.
They noted NIHR’s efforts during the past period through its visits to isolation and treatment centers and quarantine centers, communicating with expatriate workers for information on their living conditions. NIHR team visited the centers to ensure the availability of safety, hygiene and health care requirements provided to the expatriate according to internationally recognized standards.
The committee stressed the importance of continuing these visits to ensure that the workers enjoy their fundamental rights guaranteed to them under the Constitution and national laws.
