No Malaysian Involved In Egypt Train Collision

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- The foreign ministry has confirmed that no Malaysian was involved in a two-train collision in Alexandria, Egypt on Friday, which left 41 people dead and 179 others injured. In a statement Saturday, it said it would continue to monitor the progress of the incident through the Malaysian Embassy in Cairo. "Inquiries can be forwarded to the Malaysian Embassy in Cairo via +2 0237610013, +201200276388 or via e-mail mwcairo@kln.gov.my," it said, expressing sympathy to the victims involved in the accident. Local media reported the crash was probably caused by malfunction in one of the trains, bringing it to a halt on the rails, before it was hit by another train. One train was travelling from Cairo to Alexandria while the other was coming from Port Said at the time of the crash. -- BERNAMA
