NSSA to participate in International Astronautical Congress

Manama, Sept. 16 (BNA): Representing the Kingdom of Bahrain in the membership of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), the National Space Science Agency (NSSA) will participate in the 73rd edition of the International Astronautical Congress which will convene in France. The conference is considered the biggest international specialized conference in the space sector which attracts all space agencies and specialized companies in space science. NSSA’s participation this year is to compete for one of the organisation's most prestigious awards related to the application of best practices in the areas of gender equality, youth empowerment, and geographical excellence. The agency is also competing for a number of awards related to space applications and scientific research with a total of five academic papers that include the most prominent research and innovations carried out by members of the Bahrain Space Team in various fields, all of which are related to the space sector. The International Astronautical Conference is witnessing this year a large-scale participation of more than 8000 participants from different countries of the world. It will also attract large participation from space agencies and companies in the exhibition accompanying the conference in which the participating parties will showcase their latest projects, products, innovations and the latest developments in space technologies. It is worth noting that NSSA officially joined IAF at the end of 2021. Ever since, it has proved to be an active member through the many participations and various contributions undertaken by its members, including the selection of two of the agency’s engineers to the membership of the Space Generation Advisory Council. Moreover, one of the female engineers at the agency headed was assigned to one of the global project management teams. Besides, three engineers were selected among the chosen elite to participate in the 28th and 29th sessions of the joint workshop between the United Nations and the International Astronautical Federation.
