Nursultan Nazarbayev received Metropolitan of Astana and Almaty, Mefodiy
Astana, December 22, 2009 (Khabar) - In his capital city residence, the Ak Orda, the head of state, Nursultan Nazarbayev has received the Metropolitan of Astana and Almaty, Mefodiy. The sides discussed preparations for the forth-coming visit by Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill to Kazakhstan scheduled for 2010.
Father Mefodiy, Metropolitan of Astana and Almaty:
- The visit is set to be paid by the Patriarch between the 16th and the 18th of January next year and will take place in both Almaty and Astana. During his visit, His Holiness will inspect and consecrate a new church in the city of Astana. It is going to be another significant event for the followers of the Orthodox belief and all the people of our country. I think it is a very important and bright symbol of the tolerance and democracy which Kazakhstan can be confident to speak about.
