Official: Iran, UNDP Cooperating In Crisis Management

Tehran, Feb 4, IRNA – Head of Iranˈs Crisis Management Organization Hassan Qadami said that Islamic Republic is cooperating with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the field of reducing the risk of unprecedented incidents. ˈBy signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU), the Islamic Republic of Iran is cooperating with the United Nations Development Program in the field of reducing the risk of (unprecedented) events,ˈ Qadami said on the sidelines of signing an MoU between Iran and UNDP and in a meeting with the head of UNDP office in Tehran Balasubramaniam Murali on Sunday. ˈThis office cooperates on different issues such as reducing poverty, fighting drug addiction, environment and issues related to crisis management of incidents,ˈ the official said. He said that the Iranian officials should be able to implement the plans for reinforcing the buildings and preventing the incidents as well as supplying other countries with emergency assistance in case they are affected by unprecedented incidents. Murali, for his part, said that UNDP office in Tehran signed its five-year state program with Iran, adding that the program includes four main sections. ˈReducing the risk and damage caused by natural disasters were among main sections of the program,ˈ he said./end
