OIC calls for immediate end to extrajudicial killings of Kashmiris in IOK

ISLAMABAD, Jul 15 (APP): The OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) Thursday called for an immediate end to the ongoing abrasive human rights violations and extrajudicial killings of Kashmiris in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) working under the 56-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed serious concern over the recent incidents of human rights violations and killing of more than 30 innocent Kashmiris in the Indian-Occupied Kashmir by the Indian military and para-military forces, a press statement said. "People have been denied access to basic emergency services and right to health. There have been incidents of violence, harassment, shelling of teargas in hospitals, to prevent access to hospitals and restrict the movement of ambulances," the statement added. "The use of excessive force against innocent civilians, protesting peacefully over extrajudicial killings, is deplorable and a blatant violation of the right to life, right to freedom of expression and opinion, right to peaceful protest and assembly and other fundamental human rights," the OIC statement said. "These extrajudicial killings and abrasive human rights violations should stop forthwith while there should not be any impunity for human rights violations," the OIC said. The IPHRC also called for holding of an "independent, fair and transparent inquiry" against the individuals responsible for these killings and to hold the culprits accountable at all levels.
