Ombudsman receives NIHR Chairman

Manama, July 15 (BNA): Ombudsman, Nawaf Mohammed Al-Maawda, today received the Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, in the presence of Deputy Ombudsman, Ghada Hameed Habib. Al-Maawda congratulated Al-Derazi on the issuance of the Royal Order on appointing the members of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners, and on his election as NIHR Chairman. He lauded the tremendous efforts exerted by the NIHR to consolidate human rights protection in the kingdom, through its distinguished initiatives and dedicated efforts since its establishment, under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Reform Project, wishing the members of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners every success in carrying out their duties. They discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the NIHR and the Office of the Ombudsman in promoting and strengthening the human rights principles. They also reviewed issues of mutual interest.
