Ombudsman receives parliamentary committee chairman

Manama, Sept. 13 (BNA): Ombudsman Nawaf Mohammed Al-Ma’awda, received here today the Representatives Council’s Parliamentary Standing Select Committee on Human Rights Chairman, MP Abdulrahman Rashid Bu Majeed, and member, MP Jamal Dawood Ahmed. He lauded the existing cooperation and constant communication between the committee and the Office of the Ombudsman. Al-Ma’awda reviewed with the MPs the efforts of the Office of the Ombudsman in consolidating human rights respect within its terms of reference, stressing that interest in human rights issues in continuous and aims to develop society and ensure the welfare of its members in various fields. The Ombudsman extended thanks to the Parliamentary Standing Select Committee on Human Rights and its members for its efforts and interest in human rights, as well as for its constant cooperation with all the relevant authorities. MP Bu Majeed commended the efforts exerted by the Office of the Ombudsman to consolidate the respect of human rights, within the independent national institutions that have strengthened Bahrain’s human rights leadership at the Arab and regional levels. He also praised the positive cooperation between the Office of the Ombudsman and the Parliamentary Standing Select Committee on Human Rights over the past period, expressing hope that cooperation between the two sides will continue. Deputy Ombudsman, Osama Ahmed Al-Asfoor, was also present.
