One Woman Killed, 20 Others Injured As Bomb Explodes In Pattani Town

By Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa PATTANI (Thailand), Oct 25 (Bernama) -- A 50-year-old woman was killed while 20 others were injured when a bomb exploded at a stall in Pattani town at about 7pm on Monday. Pattani acting police chief Col Piyawat Chalermsi said among the injured included five children and senior citizen who were having their meal at the stall. "The bomb was believed to have been planted at the stall that sells 'Pi Berm' noodles but the bomb squad which arrived later did not find any other bombs," he told reporters here Monday. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment while the road close to site of the incident has been closed for traffic while cars parked in the area were asked to leave. Thailand security forces have been placed on high alert as news had filtered through that bomb attacks could be the order of the day tomorrow as it marks the anniversary of the Takbai bombing incident. --BERNAMA
