Palestinian Cleric Calls for Emergency Aid to Occupied Jerusalem

Doha, February 26 (QNA) -A Palestinian cleric has called for urgent financial support for Palestinians in the old part of Jerusalem to help them resist Israel's Judization policies. Speaking to QNA, Ekrema Sabri, chairman of the Higher Islamic Authority in Jerusalem, said there are 11 sectors in the city that need emergency aid including education, health, housing and tourism. He estimated the city's requirements at $500 million annually, noting that a relevant request was presented to the Arab summit conference in Sirte, Libya. He said the Israelis were hurrying to impose a status quo in Jerusalem before the Arabs reap the fruits of the Arab Spring which, he said, hasn't yet matured. (QNA)
