Parents Have Online Visits to Children at Observation Facilities

BANGKOK, April 11 (TNA) -- The Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection has installed an online visit system at two juvenile observation facilities in Chiang Mai and Ratchaburi provinces and plans to expand them nationwide in the future. Sahakan Petnarin, director-general of the department, held a media conference on the online visit service. He said it was aimed at well treating young detainees to return them smoothly to the society. With the system, parents can use their mobile phones to connect the observation centers of the department via the Skype for Business application. The convenient service had raised the numbers of visitors and the frequencies of visits by three times since their launch in February, Mr Sahakan said. To use the services, parents must register with the observation facilities first and be verified that they were the parents of young detainees. In each visit, parents can make video calls to their detained children for 15 minutes. The services were free and satisfied parents, Mr Sahakan said. (TNA)
