Parliamentary delegation to participate in APA committee meeting

Manama, Oct. 27 (BNA): A parliamentary delegation, led by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee at the Shura Council, Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Khuzaai, will participate in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA)’s Standing Committee on Political Affairs, set to be held in the city of Gwadar, Pakistan, the from October 29 to 31. Dr. Al-Khuzaai highlighted the importance of the delegation’s participation in Asian meetings, given their importance in enhancing cooperation and partnership with other parliaments. It also confirms the brotherly and friendship relations between Bahrain’s Legislative Branch and its Asian counterparts, he added. He said that a special session will be held to discuss a draft resolution on transferring APA into a parliament on the model of other continental parliaments. The APA committee will deliberate on seven draft resolutions pertaining to several regional issues, he said, noting that the panel will mainly discuss the formation of an Asian Parliament, good governance, rule of law and judicial empowerment, good parliamentary practices, role of Asian governments and parliaments in Asia’s progress, importance of friendly relations among Asian countries and the Asian parliaments’ firm support for the Palestinians. He affirmed that the kingdom’s delegation to APA’s standing committee meeting will participate in all the sessions and highlight the kingdom’s democratic strides.
