Participants in ABEGS conference condole with Bahrain over passing of HRH Prince Khalifa

Manama, Nov. 15 (BNA): The participants in the 26th General Conference of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) have offered their condolences to the Kingdom of Bahrain following the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. During the conference, held remotely under the chairmanship of Omani Education Minister, Madeeha bint Ahmed bin Nassir Al-Shaibaniyah, and with the participation of GCC Secretary-General, Dr. Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf, Education Minister, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, expressed thanks to the participants for their feelings and consolation over the demise of HRH Prince Khalifa. Addressing the meeting, Omani Education Minister focused on the effects of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the educational process in all countries, commending the swift response of the education ministries of the member states, through ensuring the sustainability of learning. GCC Chief, in his statement, extended thanks to GCC leaders for their investment in education to build new generations of well-educated citizens. He also thanked education ministers for their keenness to ensure the continuity of the educational process during the spread of the pandemic with remarkable success. The Education Minister expressed thanks and appreciation to ABEGS for its successful preparation for the conference, affirming the kingdom’s support for all ABEGS’ programmes and draft budget. Dr. Al-Nuaimi highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise and experiences among member states in the field of distant learning, given its importance in the present, and in the post COVID-19 period.
