Peninsula: Qatar University Is A Beacon of Academic Excellence, Scientific Research

Doha, November 03 (QNA) - The Peninsula newspaper confirmed in its Tuesday editorial that Qatar University has become a beacon of academic excellence and scientific research, as it continues its efforts to develop a culture of scientific research, focuses on excellence, the highest standards of quality and professionalism, and adheres to integrity and the highest ethical standards of honesty, justice, transparency, responsibility and accountability. The newspaper praised the new progress made by Qatar University in all subject areas according to Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021. This year includes most of the majors, as well as the entry of new majors for the first time in this international classification. The newspaper also pointed out that Qatar University placed third in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2021. The annual QS Arab Region University Rankings highlights 130 leading universities in this part of the world. Qatar University moved from 276 in 2020 to 245 in the 2021 ranking, effectively jumping 31 places, and becoming one of the most improved universities, the newspaper added. In September, QU also jumped 90 places and entered the club of the best 350 International Universities according to Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021. The results showed that QU has jumped up to the 301-350 band. Qatar University, one of the leading institutions of academic and research excellence in the GCC region, provides high quality undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare competent graduates, primed to shape the future of Qatar, the newspaper pointed out. The newspaper reported that Qatar University released a five-year strategy for the years 2018-2022, which mapped out the routes to achieving continuing performance excellence and builds on key areas of education, research, institution and engagement, while taking into consideration the plans and aspirations of Qatar National Vision 2030. The Peninsula concluded its editorial by noting that community participation is at the heart of Qatar Universitys mission and vision.
