People mourn late Thai Supreme Patriarch, white, black clothes better sold

BANGKOK, October 26 (TNA) - As people are mourning Thailand's late Supreme Patriarch, who passed away from blood infection on October 24 at the age of 100, white and black clothes are better sold nationwide. In Bangkok, for instance, several shops in Bang Lampu area near the Bowonniwet Wihan Temple, the official residence of the late Supreme Patriarch, His Holiness Phra Yan-na-sang-won, said today (Oct 26) that they have stocked up more black and white clothes to meet the increased public demand. According to a latest statement of the Bureau of the Royal Household issued on Friday (Oct 25), His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has instructed that the mourning period of palace officials for the 19th Supreme Patriarch of Thailand's Rattanakosin Era be extended to 30 days. However, the mourning period of government and state officials, as well as the general public for His Holiness is maintained at 15 days, starting from October 25. (TNA)
