People pay respect to the late King

Bangkok, Dec 5 (TNA) – Crowds of people visited Wat Ratchabophit to pay respect to the royal ashes of King Rama IX on the occasion of the late king’s birthday. The people took the opportunity of King Rama IX’s birthday on Dec 5 to show their loyalty and remembrance of the late king’s great contributions to the public interest. They gathered at the Buddhist temple where King Rama IX’s ashes are kept in Phra Budha Angkheeros, the main Buddha image in the prayer hall of the temple. Visitors are allowed to enter the prayer hall on Dec 5. Many visitors wore yellow clothing as yellow is the colour of the late king’s birthday. The temple management opens the compound for visitors to pay respect to the royal ashes between 8am and 10am and 4pm and 6.30pm. Dec 5 is also the Father’s Day and the National Day of Thailand.
