PM to leave for Japan roadshow

BANGKOK, March 5 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will leave for a roadshow in Japan on Tuesday, aimed at boosting Japanese business operators' confidence in investing in Thailand, after the country's flooding crisis late last year. Yingluck, who will be accompanied by several senior officials, including Thai Industry Minister Pongsvas Svasti, during her four-day visit to Japan, is scheduled to deliver a speech in which more than 900 business persons have agreed to attend. Meanwhile, Vice Minister for Industry Supap Kleekajai on Monday presided over an enlargement of Sodick (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a project worth 800 million baht, in Bangkok's suburban Pathum Thani Province. The firm produces Japanese hi-tech machineries, 90 per cent of which are for exports. The company’s President Hideki Tsukamoto said he believed that the Thai government could solve flood problems, suggesting, however, that the government take actions to guarantee sufficient protection and flood-related insurances for industrial operators to help boost international business operators' confidence in the Thai economy.
