PM orders security tightened at all Thai airports
HAINAN, CHINA, March 23 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered security agencies to tighten security measures at all Thai airports, following a spate of bomb explosions in Brussels on March 22, killing at least 34 people and injuring some 170 others at an international airport and an underground rail station.
The Thai prime minister, who is now attending the 1st Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting in Sanya of China's Hainan Province during March 22-24, told journalists on March 23 that he has been informed of the deadly bomb attacks in Brussels and ordered concerned agencies to step up security measures at all Thai airports.
The prime minister said that about 90 per cent of additional security measures have already been in good place.
The prime minister stressed that no unusual incident has happened in Thailand so far, urging the public to, however, help observe strange objects or people in their areas.
According to the Thai prime minister, his government has also exchanged intelligence with fellow members in the ASEAN Community (AC) on the situation at airports and areas along the border. (TNA)
