PM praises winning Thai cultural troupes
BANGKOK, November 1 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has praised winning Thai cultural youth troupes for bringing fame to the nation and asked them to conserve and sustain the national identity and heritages.
The prime minister made the remarks when six Thai youth troupes who have won contemporary and international arts and cultural competitions, led by Thai Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat paid a courtesy call on him at Bangkok's Government House on October 31.
The prime minister said that the Thai government will organize more arts and cultural competitions in all regions nationwide, aimed to not only promote and uphold the country's arts and cultural identity and heritages, but also create and distribute income to provincial areas for the sake of reduced disparity in social and economic conditions among the Thai people of all levels and ages and for national economic growth and development beneficial to the Thai citizens in all regions more fairly.
According to the Thai premier, the objectives have been included in the human resource development plan under the government's present 20-year national development strategies, covering the promotion and support of different talents of people and the adoption of advanced technologies into the country to keep pace with the globalization and and to bring about income security to the Thai nationals.
The six winning Thai youth arts and cultural troupes include the Nataya Bangkok traditional Thai puppet team and the Suan Phlu Chorus Band, as well as those of the College of Dramatic Arts, the CSTD (Thailand), the ATID Society and Suranaree Wittaya School. (TNA)
