PM promotes Thai fabrics internationally

BANGKOK, March 19 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is promoting Thai fabrics internationally and exports of clothes made from Thai fabrics, suggesting that economies of scale can make quality Thai fabrics competitive in terms of prices on the world market. Yingluck wore a silk blouse with a loincloth pattern to attend the Thai Cabinet's weekly meeting on Tuesday, telling greeting reporters that she bought the fabric during her past visit to the Northeast and had a dressmaker make the blouse from the fabric. The Thai prime minister said she felt agile in the blouse, persuading everyone to turn to wear Thai fabrics and promote them, as they look smart and help save energy because they can replace suits and show off Thai cultures. Before the Cabinet meeting, officials of the Thai Ministry of Science and Technology presented designs of Thai fabrics and Thai folk fabrics to the prime minister and other ministers, before they will be further processed, based on nanotechnology, to be softened and to reduce wrinkles with anti-bacterial properties and to, thus, prevent clothing smell.
