PM thanks Thailand's legal team at The Hague
BANGKOK, November 13 (TNA) - Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra thanks Thailand's legal team for fighting a territorial case-related to the Preah Vihear Temple at The Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) with full efforts, after which its outcome is positive for Thailand.
Yingluck expressed the thankfulness when Veerachai Palasai, Thai Ambassador to The Hague, who is also chief of Thailand's legal team fighting Cambodia’s claim on the disputed vicinity of the Preah Vihear Temple, paid a courtesy call on her at Bangkok's Government House after arriving in the capital.
The prime minister acknowledged, however, that there are relevant issues need to be further discussed between Thailand and neighbouring Cambodia.
The Thai premier asked agencies concerned to help explain the ICJ's verdict on November 11, 2013 to people to create proper understanding.
In 1962, the ICJ ruled that the Preah Vihear Temple belongs to Cambodia, but an area in the vicinity of the ancient Hindu temple remains in dispute. (TNA)
