PM urged to solve alcohol consumption among youths
BANGKOK, February 21 (TNA) - A leading Thai academic has called on Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to solve the problem of alcohol consumption among youths to ease social problems.
According to Bangkok-based Thammasat University Vice Rector Prinya Thaewanarumitkul, social disorders have arisen as a result of mushrooming taverns near schools and universities over the past few years.
To efficiently solve the problems, Parinya called for Premier Yingluck, as a mother herself, to chair the Committee for National Alcohol Policy to take relevant actions to address the youngsters' concerned issues.
The leading academic suggested that the government evenly pay attention to political, economic and social issues, pointing out that many youth-related problems, including teen pregnancy, illegal abortion and sexual assaults have mostly caused by alcohol consumption. (TNA)
