Police arrest Filipino drug smugglers

BANGKOK, July 8 (TNA) - Thai rangers have arrested two Filipino women on charges of drug smuggling after they were found with over 25,000 anti-cholesterol pills containing illicit substances. Customs officials said the two suspects were arrested at the Thai-Cambodian border checkpoint at Aranyaprathet district. The duo told investigators that they had bought the pills from Vietnam for their friends and relatives in the Philippines. Also, a man and two girls in Thailand’s Nakhon Phanom province bordering with Laos have been detained over the possession of methamphetamine pills. The arrest also found several guns, including cash and drug equipments. Investigators said the trio was apprehended near a hut behind Nakhon Phanom University and had confessed of buying the drugs from a neighbouring country for sale in Thailand. (TNA)
