Police ready to welcome 8,000 people at Wild Boars thank-you party

BANGKOK, Sept 5 (TNA) -- Police are ready to facilitate the thank you party for those involved in the rescue of the young Wild Boars footballers and their coach as they expect about 8,000 people at the party venue at the Royal Plaza on Sept 6. Deputy Bangkok police commissioner Montree Yimyam said police and officials from other organizations were ready for the “United as One” party and more than 4,100 police and officials from various organizations including the Transport Ministry and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration were mobilized to serve the party. The government prepared parking lots on Sanam Luang ground for participants and 40 shuttle buses would be deployed to serve them between Sanam Luang and the Royal Plaza, Pol Maj Gen Montree said. Participants will be screened at four checkpoints. Checked participants will wear white pins. Authorities expect about 8,000 participants including the 12 rescued young footballers, their families, rescuers, officials and diplomats. The party was set from 5pm to 9pm on Sept 6 and Bangkok police would open the party venue at noon, Pol Maj Gen Montree said. One-way traffic will be imposed on Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue and Sri Ayutthaya Road from 5pm to 9pm. No roads would be closed during the period, he said. The young footballers aged 11-16 and their coach had been trapped in flooded Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai province since June 23. Their extraction was successful on July 10. (TNA)
