Berlin, June 24 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, participated in the Berlin Ministerial Conference entitled "United for Global Food Security". The conference was organised by the German government today, with the participation of foreign ministers and senior officials of the G7, the United Nations Global Crisis Response Group, and major donor countries. During the ministerial meeting, they discussed ways to advance global initiatives to address food security threats resulting from international conflicts, climate change, the consequences of COVID-19, and supply chain challenges, stressing that this crisis is multidimensional and requires a joint and effective global response that combines diplomacy, humanitarian aid, development cooperation and agricultural policies and sustainable food. The Undersecretary also stressed that the participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in this ministerial meeting comes within the framework of its constant keenness, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to support international efforts in settling international disputes through diplomatic means, and reducing their humanitarian repercussions and effects on food security, as well as activating the international partnership in eradicating hunger and ensuring safe food safety for all, in order to achieve the second goal of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. He further expressed his pride in the keenness of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in adopting an integrated strategy to achieve food security, develop the strategic stock programme, and follow innovative modern production methods, appreciating the Kingdom’s successes in overcoming COVID-29, and its quest to achieve the 25th place on the global food security index by 2030, in addition to continuing its support for international initiatives and exchanging experiences in the scientific, research and technological fields that enhance national and global food security.
