Poplook Aims To Go Global
SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), June 13 (Bernama) -- Poplook, an online fashion site which is popular among women in Malaysia and Singapore, aims to widen its global market for Muslimah-friendly, high quality and affordable products.
Poplook’s chief fashion designer Nik Amanina Liyana Nik Abd Aziz said besides Singapore, Poplook had an international clientele, including from Canada, United States, United Kingdom and the Middle East.
"Last year we launched an international website for Poplook where all the transactions were in US dollar. Our aim is to expand globally… we want to have a variation of customers. We are also aiming for more outlets and better designs.
"...but the important thing is that we stick to our motto which is to specialise in modest fashion, Muslimah-friendly and wuduk-friendly products," she told Bernama when met at ‘Poplook Indahnya Raya Styling Event’ programme in conjunction with the opening ceremony of Poplook’s second store in Setia City Mall here recently.
Poplook, which has been operating since 2007 had opened its first store at The Curve, Damansara, near here last year.
Nik Amanina said the Poplook website which can be assessed via poplook.com displays more than 1,000 high quality products featuring different designs at reasonable price.
Besides women's clothing, she said Poplook also carried children's and men’s wear, maternity wear, headscarve, handbags and jewellery.
"Poplook fans know that each week we will come out with new and affordable designs made from fabrics of excellent quality and suitable for women in Malaysia and abroad," she said adding that for marketing purposes, Poplook had been collaborating with other well known online stores such as FashionValet and famous fashion designers like Jovian Mandagie and Melinda Looi.
Through the collaboration with FashionValet, Poplook products are displayed at the FashionValet store in the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and based on feedback, sales figures was the highest compared to other designers mainly because people are looking for more simple and affordable stuff.
"In addition, we also market out brand through sponsorship, we sponsor drama, bloggers and Instafamous. That is how we market our products...we are not afraid to sponsor as long as it can benefit us, it’s a win-win situation," she said.
Nik Amanina said this year Poplook came out with four fashion themes for Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid ul-Fitr) namely 'Borneo', 'Heritage', 'Dentelle' and 'Antalya' which was also a collaboration with FashionValet.
"This year, we are all out with Raya fashion because we know people love to shop for Raya. Borneo is a batik-inspired design and Antalya is a Turkey-inspired design. During the month of Ramadan, Poplook opened a pop-up store at Sogo shopping centre and The Gardens in Kuala Lumpur," she said.
