Pramuka, AGP, Lions Help Jakarta's Flood Victims
Jakarta, March 6 (Antara) - Indonesian Scout (Pramuka) of Jakarta Province, in collaboration with Artha Graha Care Foundations (AGP) and Lions Club Indonesia District 307-A1, helped the residents of Kampung Melayu Village, East Jakarta after floods that hit Jakarta.
"This event is a follow-up of the Memorandum of Understanding between Pramuka, AGP, Lions Club and Jakarta Provincial Administration," Chairman of Pramuka of Jakarta Province Sylvianna stated here on Thursday.
To help the residents, according to Sylvi, they have conducted a free medical camp, healing therapy for the children, distributed basic need packages, Holy Books of Koran, towels and cleaning tools.
Sylvi added that Pramuka of Jakarta Province and Pramuka of East Jakarta Branch had deployed 250 personnel from among the junior and senior level members.
"Pramuka also distributed cleaning tools to the residents to clean up their homes after the floods. We also distributed the Holy Book of Koran because the ones that the residents owned were washed out in the floods," she added.
AGP Representative for Jatinegara Area Teguh Suryanto stated that they distributed one thousand packages of basic needs and deployed 40 personnel to support these activities.
"Mr Tomy Winata (the Founder of AGP) wanted us to not just distribute material aids only. Hence, we deployed our personnel to interact directly with the residents," he added.
Meanwhile, District Governor Lions Club Indonesia 307-A1 Tony Jumadi noted that, in collaboration with the local Health Affairs Office, they supported the free medical service and healing therapy for children.
"This activity was in line with our vision namely environment, education, health and responsiveness toward disasters," he explained.
