Premier affirms support to banking sector

Manama, Nov. 29 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has said that the government will continue adopting economic tools that will pave the way for financial and banking firms to expand their operations in the kingdom. The Prime Minister also underlined the government's unwavering support to the financial and banking sector so as to be among the main engines of economic activities in the kingdom through providing a stimulating environment for that. HRH Premier praised the role played by the Al-Ahli United Bank, being a prestigious financial institution with a good regional and global reputation, that has achieved great successes despite the prevailing regional and international economic conditions. HRH the Prime Minister made the statements while receiving, at the Gudaibiya Palace today, the Al-Ahli United Bank's board chairman, Hamad Mishari Al Humaidhi, and members. HRH Premier affirmed the government's keenness on adopting strategies that consolidate the role of the kingdom as a host of financial firms, stressing that it will continue launching more programmes that translate this policy into the ground. The Prime Minister highlighted the Al-Ahli United Bank's achievements and effective participation in the financial activities, as well as in the training of Bahraini competencies. HRH Premier was briefed on the Al-Ahli United Bank's current and future plans. The Prime Minister hailed the bank's plans to expand its operations in the kingdom, which, he said, reflects its confidence in the stimulating economic and investment atmosphere the government has provided for the financial and banking institutions operating in Bahrain. The Al-Ahli United Bank's board chairman extended sincere thanks to the government, led by HRH the Prime Minister, for its support to the financial institutions operating in Bahrain, highlighting the facilities and suitable investment atmosphere that attract capitals. He lauded the role played by HRH the Prime Minister in establishing a robust financial and banking sector on the kingdom that has a strong and distinguished position across the region.
