Premier receives Palestinian President

Manama, Apr. 11 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received at his palace in Riffa today Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his accompanying delegation. They stressed the need for the Arab people to unite their discourse regarding the Palestinian issue, especially in light of global developments and the positive change in major countries' stances towards the Arabs and their issues. HRH the Premier and the Palestinian President underscored the need to avail of the motivating circumstances to achieve more progress concerning crucial Arab issues, including mainly the Palestinian cause and regional security and stability. HRH the Prime Minister asserted that the Palestinian issue will remain a top priority for Arab and Muslim people despite attempts to distract attention from it. He affirmed the importance of a unified Arab stance to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with its capital Al-Quds. He also stressed Bahrain's unwavering support to the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights according to the Arab Peace Initiative of 2002 and the two-state solution on 1967 borders. HRH the Premier lauded the role of the Palestinian community in Bahrain's comprehensive development march, emphasizing the great respect accorded to them. The Palestinian President extended an invitation to HRH the Prime Minister to visit Palestine, thanking him for his support to the Palestinian issue and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He commended HRH the Premier's wise vision regarding regional issues and means of fostering security and stability. He also hailed Bahrain's supportive stances and the kingdom's efforts to defend the Palestinian legitimate rights. The Palestinian President reiterated Palestine's support to Bahrain in all measures taken to boost its security and stability, wishing it and the Bahraini people more progress and prosperity. He briefed HRH the Premier on the latest developments in Palestine and the efforts made by the major countries to reach a solution safeguarding the Palestinian people's freedom and right to establish their independent state with its capital Al-Quds. HRH the Prime Minister and the Palestinian President discussed the overall regional and international developments.
