Premiere in Abai Theatre of Opera and Ballet

Almaty, December 24, 2009 (Khabar) - Echoes of war at the stage of theater. Lines from the poem of Zhambyl called “Residents of Leningrad are my children, residents of Leningrad are my pride!” is the title of a new ballet of Bulat Ayukhanov, which the State Academic Theatre of Dancing devoted to the 65th anniversary of lifting of the blockade of Leningrad. The artist says nobody and never must forget tragic lessons of that horrible war.

Bulat Ayukhanov, People’s Artiste of Kazakhstan:
- I believe that we have performed our civic duty in the memory about people, who saved the city of the highest culture and world meaning.

Bolat Ayukhanov has a special attitude to that city, since he has been studying in the ballet school there and started its creative work. The scene does not have any decorations and only black and white colour symbolizes evil and good and the audience is the participants of the events, happened on the stage.

Bulat Ayukhanov, People’s Artiste of Kazakhstan:
- The plot of the ballet is the story of a simple family. The war finds lovers on the Field of Mars. Then the snake, which gradually turns in fylfot, appears. At the end of the story the family stays alive.

The performance is based of the poem by Zhambyl called Residents of Leningrad are my children, residents of Leningrad are my pride!” and Symphony No. 7 “Leningrad” by Dmitriy Shostakovich. Ballet artists showed several other works, with which they performed in the UK, Turkey, Scotland, Switzerland and Russia. The evening was crowed by the Carmen Suite, which has been in the repertoire of the ensemble for 40 years.

Bulat Ayukhanov, People’s Artiste of Kazakhstan:
- I’ve got a lot of wishes. I am 71 and 3 months and today I am going to dance torero. I don’t know whether I am successful or not but I hope spectators will not be shocked. They will look at me and say that I am young and fit.
