Astana, November 17, 2009 (Khabar) - The representatives of non-governmental sector have discussed preparation for forum in Astana. 750 people including representatives of foreign non-governmental organizations (NGO) will take part into forum. Within two days non-governmental sector will discuss at seven dialogue platforms with the authorities such issues as improving the state of social order, environmental and human development, transparency and government’s accountability to society, social responsibility and standards of social services. Participants of roundtable meeting have discussed the possibility of transferring social services from government structures to non-governmental organizations (NGO).
Aigul Solovyova, president of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan:
- If we know what is a social standard, then we can give this standard, this social service of non-governmental organization. We will tell about the development in regions because it works at the central level, and work in regions depends on personality of a mayor and his treatment. There should be a system of work
In general, non-governmental sector in Kazakhstan today "firmly stands on its feet” and is ready to enter the international level, said Vice-Minister of Culture and Information Gaziz Telebayev. It is planned to hold another - an international civil forum with the participation of NGOs from OSCE and CICA the next year as part of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE.
Gaziz Telebayev, Vice-Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan:
- I think it will be a very good dialogue of non-governmental organizations of the West and East. And our non-governmental sector shows its maturity here.
