Preparing Young Authors programme supports the future of Emirati culture: Nahyan bin Mubarak
ABU DHABI, 2nd April, 2017 (WAM) -- The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development will launch the "Preparing Young Authors" programme during the Knowledge Forum organised by the Ministry in the second half of April.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, has assured that through the launch of the "Preparing Young Authors" programme, the Ministry aims to create a qualitative shift in the UAE's knowledge production structure.
The programme will work on discovering and supporting a promising generation of writers across different areas including poetry, novels, short stories, personal experiences and theatrical texts. This will enhance the value of reading as a necessary intellectual tool in the process of cultural knowledge production and will motivate the younger talented generation to write, thus enriching the Emirati culture in general.
Sheikh Nahyan added that the Ministry seeks to attract young up and coming authors and writers across various age groups, and to include school and university students to participate in the programme. Preparing Young Authors will mainly utilise partnerships with universities and schools to discover emerging talents in the literary field.
The launch of the Preparing Young Authors programme reflects the Ministry's implementation of the National Reading Law in accordance with the directives President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
