Presentation of “Seker” film

Almaty, October 20, 2009 (Khabar) - Soon Kazakhstan’s residents will witness the “Seker” – “Sweet” film by Sabit Kurmanbekov, who also directed the “Late love” film with Gerard Depardieu. The film is based on the story, which was written by Sabit Kurmanbekov’s mother.

Sabit Kurmanbekov, director:
- The “Seker” story is an autobiographic story about how she tuned into a boy and then, from a boy into a girl. She wrote only one story.

The lead role was played by Ayaulym Akhmetbekova, who is living in Almaty orphanage. In order to star in the film, the girl cut her hair, learnt how to fight and rode a horse. The latter was the most difficult task for her. Bulat Kalymbetov played the father of the main heroine, whose name is Seker.

Bulat Kalumbetov, actor:
- It was a very difficult shooting. It was one episode at the end of the film, when she was a girl. It was a touching episode and she was crying.

Such actors as Nurzhuman Ykhtymbaeyv and the Russian actress Irina Grinyova also starred in the film. The film is set in Tekeli, where there is outstanding nature. The main idea of the film is that there should be harmony in nature.

As part of the film premiere, the Kazakhfilm announced a contest of children’s paintings entitled “Rare animals of Kazakhstan”. The selection of best paintings involved famous painters, animators and directors. Winners will visit the premier of the film, which will happen on the 22nd of October. Then the film will be showed on the wide screen. The film was declared for the participation at the Berlin film festival.
