President of RK attends “Le Corsaire” ballet

Astana, December 27, 2009, Khabar – World famous “Le Corsaire” ballet is staged at capital’s Palace of Peace and Accord in Astana. The President Nursultan Nazarbayev came to see the new version of the performance choreographed by the ballet master of the Bolshoi Theatre and people’s artiste of USSR Yuriy Grigorovich. “Le Corsaire” ballet was performed on the stage of Paris Opera for the first time as far back as 1856. Today, this performance holds a special place in the repertory of the leading world theatres.

Gulfairus Kurmangozhayeva, honoured worker of RK:
- This is a very difficult ballet in both technical and emotional terms. There are lot of moments when the mood changes. It is very difficult to combine it all within one performance.

- It’s very beautiful, majestic, special and impressive. There were many interesting points, so I think it’s a true present for all the ballet admirers out there.

Tursunbek Nurkaliyev, chief ballet master, K. Baiseitova National Opera and Ballet Theatre:
- It was a big test for the entire ballet group today and a report for a ten year-period of the theatre’s work as we’ve staged 14 plays in 10 years and today we are showing one of the best of our performances staged by maestro Grigorovich to the head of state.
