Princess Sabeeka: BAB2017 showcases Bahrain's civilised image, progress

Manama, Mar. 22 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council of Women (SCW) has emphasized the importance of harnessing arts and artistic exhibitions frequently hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain as an integral part of the ensemble of bolstering our national economy to promote the Kingdom of Bahrain as a tourist-attractive cultural destination.
Her Royal Highness considered that as a manifestation of Bahrain's cultural image and its attained prosperity and development in various fields under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
Her Royal Highness lauded the efforts being exerted to invest in arts and pave appropriate climate for hosting mega artistic events that blend together diversity of artistic schools under one roof to exchange expertise and convergence of ideas, to develop the ideas of young Bahraini talents that are considered the nucleus for the future artistic movement in Bahrain.
Her Royal Highness called for the need to harness all the modern technology that will encourage the segment of youth to showcase their talents and ideas and to utilize them in a way commensurate with the requirements of our contemporary age.
Her Royal Highness praised the creativity of Bahraini artists, the reflection of their art and culture on their artistic masterpieces that prove the depth and maturity of their ideas and expression based on excellent artistic school, rich humanitarian heritage and pulsating civilization extending throughout Bahrain's ancient history.
Her Royal Highness's statement came Wednesday morning upon the inauguration of Bahrain Art Across Border (BAB2017) Exhibition at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC) in the presence of a large audience including officials.
This exhibition for the first time includes a number of masterpieces created by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council of Women. Her Royal Highness utilized hi-tech electronic devices in creating digital masterpieces themed on "Nature".
Her Royal Highness toured and viewed the exhibition, including Art BAB Pavilion the exclusive section comprising the artistic works of 36 Bahraini artists funded by Tamkeen, in addition to the Gallery Pavilion stand which comprises 11 contemporary masterpieces from the Sultanate of Oman and Denmark by professional, amateur, talented and celebrity artists, Gallery Charido from France with various artistic furniture pieces, graphics and sculptures from the 1930s, the well-known London-based Maddox Gallery, Project88 Pavilion from India includes a collection from the Indian continent's most creative artists, SmartArt Gallery from India by a group of Indian artists, in addition to masterpieces by gallery founder and artist Sonal Ambani, SamerGozeh art show from Syria, Tomnekova and Castella Gallery from Estonia one of the major art trading showrooms in that country, TuskGallery one of the main art showrooms in Ukraine, XVA Gallery from Dubai one of the main art showrooms on contemporary arts, Boutique Strox from Dubai.
The exhibition includes a video panoramic show "Floating World" on 32 large screens, showcasing the masterpieces of international artists as well as a selection from Bahraini documentaries.
The exhibition opens its doors for the public today in the afternoon and will continue until March 26, with the participation of more than 60 artists from the Middle East, Europe, Asia and the USA, in addition to a large number of Bahraini artists. The event offers a unique blend between local, regional and international talents. Tamkeen is supporting the exhibition in its capacity as the key institution concerned with the activation of the private sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. ArtSelect Global Artistic Consultancy firm (one of the trademarks of Art&Spice) has been appointed, to organize and manage this major art exhibition.
BAB2017 is supported by the following strategic partners: Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), Economic Development Board (EDB), Bahrain Authority of Culture and Antiquities (BACA), Gulf Air Company, Bahrain Telecommunication Company (BATELCO), Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the contact point between art collectors and lovers, the international artists forum where they are able to exchange ideas, insights with local artists especially as the Kingdom of Bahrain enjoys good reputation in terms of appreciation of the arts and encouragement of creative artists and that makes Bahrain the ideal destination to host this major art exhibition.
