Prosecutors raid Samsung over Choi scandal

SEOUL, Nov. 8 (Yonhap) -- Prosecutors raided Samsung Electronics' headquarters in Seoul on Tuesday amid the allegations that it provided illicit favors to the daughter of Choi Soon-sil, President Park Geun-hye's close confidante at the center of an influence-peddling scandal. Samsung is suspected of having sent 3.5 billion won (US$3 million) to a company owned by Choi allegedly to fund her daughter's equestrian training in Germany. Prosecutors are seeking to secure data related to Samsung's business with the Korea Equestrian Federation, which is also suspected of having changed regulations to benefit Choi's daughter. colin@yna.co.kr (END)
