Protest Leader Shot Dead Near Polling Station In Bangkok

BANGKOK, January 26 (TNA) - A protest leader was shot dead while nine people were wounded in a clash between anti-government protesters and their opponents near a polling station in Bangkok’ s Bangna area. The clash occurred Sunday afternoon after a group of protesters tried to obstruct the voters from entering the polling booths and casting their votes in the advance voting at the polling station set up in the compound of the Si-iam temple. The gunshots were heard and three people were severely wounded including Mr Suthin Tharathin, coordinator of the People's Army against the Thaksin Regime. Suthin was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at a hospital. (TNA)
