PTT's aviation fuel sales contract in Cambodia renewed

BANGKOK, October 30 (TNA) - The Cambodian government has extended its contract for the sales of aviation fuel at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap Airports for five more years, until 2017, to PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), Thailand's largest petroleum firm. PTT Executive Vice President Attapol Rerkpibool, who is in charge of commerce and overseas business, told journalists of the development on Wednesday, saying that the renewed contract shows PTT is recognized for its standards and services. Attapol revealed that PTT will also open its first “Platinum” gas station in Phnom Penh next month to provide comprehensive services, including car care, a Jiffy convenience store, restaurants and an Amazon coffee shop, like those in Thailand. According to the PTT executive vice president, his company has invested about 30 million baht in the new large-scaled gas station in Phnom Penh, excluding the land cost, which is in compliance with PTT’s plans to open more gas stations in the light of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015 and to promote itself as a top petroleum brand in the region. PTT has run 15 gas stations in Cambodia so far and will invest about 450 million baht to increase their number to 50 over the next five years, by 2017. The PTT executive vice president acknowledged that his company's fuel sales have been growing well in Cambodia, where economic development, infrastructure construction, namely roads, power plants and more factories, and tourism are booming. Besides, Cambodia's gross domestic product (GDP) has been expanding by as much as 6-7 per cent yearly. The PTT executive vice president noted that his company’s oil sales are rising by 10 per cent in all markets, including aviation, industries and retail, posting an overall sale of more than 200 million liters annually.
