Public health ministry worries heat will cause sickness
BANGKOK, March 16 (TNA) -- Thailand's permanent secretary of Public Health expressed his worries that the heat wave could cause children, the elderly, and labours working in the open air to be overcome with heat strokes, advising everyone to drink cold water and avoid too hot places.
Public Health Permanent Secretary Sopon Mekthon stated his worries that the hot weather would have an impact on the people's health, especially tomorrow, March 17, which the Thailand Meteorological Department has forecast, would have the highest temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, causing a heat wave to pass through the country.
He said he most worried about the children and elderly with chronic diseases, advising them to remain indoors during extreme hot weather from around 11am -2pm, as well as to constantly sip cold water and wear light and breathable clothing.
He further suggests that labours and those who must work in the open air sip colder at a litre while working, and if anyone should experience dizziness, nausea, uneasiness, and no perspiration should immediately shield themselves from the Sun.
Meanwhile, those who have spotted a person affected by the heat should move them to a place with better air flow, while helping them to sip more water and loosen any part of the shirt that is too tight. (TNA)
