Public security chief launches Geographical Security System

Manama, Jan. 18 (BNA): Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan today launched the Geographical Security System (GSS) during a ceremony attended by senior officers and experts at the Public Security Officer Club. The Public Security Chief was briefed on the upgrading of the GSS through benefiting from modern technology development. The project aims to link all operation-related directorates of the Interior Ministry in one system for fast response for daily incidents, crisis management, and security information analysis. The GSS also assists in the development of the National Ambulance System and allow receivers of cases to deal with medical accidents and provide first aid instructions until the arrival of the ambulance. The system will also enhance the quality implementation of security operations and plans. The Chief hailed the support of the Interior Minister and his directives to develop all security sectors and services, through the development and modernization strategy with the focus on human resources and utilization of technology in supporting security system. He highlighted that the event didn’t mark the beginning of the project but its upgrading to a higher level to make it useful for other projects, such as the National Disaster Management Committee and the National Ambulance. He continued that the GSS will improve the swift response to emergency cases and how to deal with them in the best standards, in addition to unification of operation procedures to create the foundation for MOI command and control centre. Al-Hassan asserted the importance to set certain security scenarios to measure readiness and rehabilitate officers and other personnel who are running the new system, through specialised training to meet international standards and promote professionalism in dealing with all cases and accidents. The GSS that was announced on Wednesday will be maintained by a specialised company. Head of the GSS, Lt-Col. Abdullah Khalifa Al Khalifa highlighted that the system will link through its applications various directorates, including the National Ambulance by communication technology integration and first aid system, through the latest standards in providing medical services through the phone.
