Public Security Chief receives Middle East Institute delegation

Manama, Sept. 3 (BNA): Chief of Public Security, Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan, received the President of the Middle East Institute in Washington, Paul Salem and his accompanying delegation. The Chief welcomed the guests, hailing the institute’s high-level research and studies on the Middle East. He highlighted the importance of such meetings in reinforcing communication, exchange of views and cooperation. He asserted that Bahrain would continue with its coexistence and peace culture approach, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and dedication to reinforcing religious, intellectual and cultural freedoms through the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Al-Hassan noted the directives of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to promote security capabilities and performance through training, modern technology and openness to the expertise of developed countries. The delegation was briefed on efforts to expand the implementation of the Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law and the launch of the open prisons programme, along with efforts to promote community partnership as an interaction principle between police personnel and society members.
