Public Security Chief visits General Directorate of Civil Defence

Manama, Oct.27 (BNA): Chief of Public Security and Head of the National Disaster Management Committee Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan visited the General Directorate of Civil Defence. He inspected the progress of the regional exercise "Convex-3". The drill is being held under the supervision of the International Energy Agency and the participation of more than 170 countries and organisations in the United Arab Emirates. The Chief was briefed on the drill that reflects the committee's readiness through joint and integrated work in carrying tasks. The Chief expressed thanks and appreciation to the directives of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for the participation of the concerned Interior Ministry directorates in the exercise to enhance preparedness in facing potential threats and exchanging experiences and expertise. He said that the participation in the drill aims to evaluate responses to international nuclear and radiation emergencies and the cooperation protocols. The exercise also aims to know about the improvement requirements in the national and international responses.
