Qalibaf Re-elected Tehran Mayor

Tehran, Sept 8, IRNA – Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf was reelected as the Mayor of Tehran by the City Council on Sunday. Members of Tehran’s City Council elected Qalibaf, 52, as the mayor of the Iranian capital with 16 votes while his rival Mohammad Hashemi gained 14 votes. This is the second time that Qalibaf assumes office as the mayor of the Iranian metropolis. His first term began in 2005 and continued until today. He was a nominee of the 2013 presidential election the winner of which was Hassan Rohani. He was also a candidate in the 2005 presidential election./end
