Qatar - Canada Relations Discussed

Ottawa, February 28 (QNA) - HE Qatar's Ambassador to Canada Salem Mubarak Al Shafi has met with Prime Minister of the Canadian province, British Columbia Christy Clark. During the meeting, they discussed aspects of cooperation between the two sides in the economic, educational and scientific research sectors. HE Ambassador Al Shafi stressed the importance of strengthening relations, and expanding cooperation between Qatar and , British Columbia Province and Canada. For her part, the Prime Minister of the province, British Columbia commended the expertise of Qatar in the field of extraction of natural gas to the highest environmental standards, and also commended the efforts made by the State of Qatar in order to achieve international peace and security. Ambassador Al Shafi also met Prof. Stephen J. Toope the President of British Columbia University, one of the most prestigious Canadian universities. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the fields of higher education and scientific research. (QNA)
