Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute and Suaiteen Group Sign Cooperation Agreement

Doha, March 13 (QNA) - The Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) of Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Al Sulaiteen Group of Companies signed today a joint cooperation agreement on the sidelines of the Qatar International Agricultural and Environmental Exhibition, which will continue until tomorrow at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. The memorandum was signed by Executive Director of the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) Dr. Marc Vermeersch and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Sulaiteen Group of Companies Abdullah Salem Al Sulaiteen The agreement represents a framework for developing and strengthening cooperation in the areas of analysis and characterization of water, agricultural products, agricultural waste, animal product analysis and specialized tests and publishing the results of scientific research and development, and professional consultancy services in the agricultural field. For his part, the Executive Director of Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, in a speech on the occasion, said that the agreement will enable the Institute to support the agricultural sector in the country by using its latest research facilities and benefiting from the experience of its researchers, scientists and engineers, explaining that the Institute will provide tangible solutions to the major challenges facing Qatar in the fields of energy, water and environment. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Sulaiteen Group of Companies said that the agreement represents a first step to revitalize joint cooperation in the fields of scientific research and training in the agricultural sector, stressing the regions great need for this cooperation due to food scarcity and the heavy reliance on imports. He expressed the groups deep interest in the agricultural sector and its development in the country by using modern scientific methods. (QNA)
