Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology Celebrates Arab Standardization Day

Doha, March 23 (QNA) - Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology (QS) celebrated on March 25, the Arab Standardization Day, which is held this year under the slogan "Standardization is a tool for a sustainable digital Arab world." The QS participation in this celebration aims to contribute to awareness-raising efforts and publicize the importance of standardization activities in various aspects of life, it also aims to highlight the role of standardization in enhancing institutional capabilities for digital transformation, by setting standards specifications, which ensure the optimal exploitation of this technology and harnessing it to achieve the development goals of Arab countries. Director-General of Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSMO) Eng. Adel Saqr Al Sager stressed in his speech on this occasion that the world is paying great attention to digital transformation programs, as they are an essential supporter of strategic sectors, as well as being a major means of achieving sustainable development, by saving effort, time, money and preserving the environment. He added that the organization is keen, in cooperation with Arab standardization bodies and relevant regional and international organizations, to issue and adopt standard specifications, systems, and work guides to help create a digital environment based on the use of smart technology to reach a sustainable digital Arab world. AIDSMO director praised the efforts made by the workers in the Arab standardization bodies to embody the slogan of the Arab Standardization Day and for their active contribution to the definition and awareness of the importance of standardization activities and their role in preparing and adopting unified Arab standards specifications, consistent with international practices, to provide a healthy life for the Arab citizen and make Arab cities and communities more sustainable. The AIDSMO and standardization bodies in the Arab countries have been celebrating since 1999 the Arab Standardization Day on March 25 of each year. The State of Qatar, represented by QS, chairs the permanent technical advisory committee charged with following up the implementation of the Arab strategy for standardization and quality. It is also a member of the general committee for standardization and a member of eight technical committees in the organization. (QNA)
