Qatar interested in mega and food projects in Thailand

BANGKOK, May 15 (TNA) - Thai Ambassador to Qatar Panyarak Poonsap said Tuesday that Qatar is interested in mega-projects and food projects in Thailand and demands for more skilled Thai welders and workers who know English. Panyarak told TNA that the Thai Embassy in Doha, Qatar's capital, in conjunction with the Qatar private sector, had organized several activities to promote Thailand and bilateral cooperation on trade and investment, including those on the occasions of the National Mothers' Day, the traditional Thai New Year or Songkran and the Loy Krathong Festivals. According to the top Thai envoy, projects in Thailand in which Qatar are keen to invest include mega-projects which have passed environmental impact assessment and feasibility studies and food production projects, as the Gulf state needs stable sources of food supply to cope with possible wars and food shortages in the Middle East. Regarding Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's ongoing visit to Qatar from May 15-17, the Thai ambassador acknowledged that it is a good opportunity for Thailand to discuss political, economic and social issues beneficial to bilateral cooperation between Bangkok and Doha on economic development, trade and tourism.
