Qatar Interior Ministry's Pavilion at DIMDEX 2022 Highlights Coasts and Borders Security Directorate Capabilities

Doha, March 21 (QNA) - The Ministry of Interior is participating with a huge pavilion at the 7th Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2022), which kicked off Monday at the Qatar National Convention Center amid wide international participation. The pavilion of the Ministry of Interior presents the most prominent developments and updates witnessed by the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security to enhance its tasks of tightening control and security protection on the coasts of the country, controlling marine violations, combating marine pollution in coordination with the competent authorities, conducting search and rescue operations for people and ships, and protecting marine, industrial and petroleum facilities in the state. The General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security presents at the exhibition models of modern boats that it uses in its various maritime security tasks, which are characterized by their high speed and advanced technologies, in addition to many maritime communication devices and surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft, which play an important role in enhancing maritime security. In remarks on the sidelines of DIMDEX, HE Director of Public Security Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi said that DIMDEX is a great opportunity for the Ministry of Interior to participate in it through the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security to display the latest equipment and technologies, as well as learn about maritime security techniques and to enhance the directorate's capabilities in securing the country's maritime space, protecting the borders, securing the safety of navigation and maritime transport, and other matters and tasks undertaken by the Ministry of Interior. He pointed out that the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, is making great efforts to secure the country's maritime borders thanks to security equipment and reinforcements, marine monitoring systems, and advanced boats that are manufactured and developed by the directorate, which contributes to enhancing maritime security. In a statement, Director General of Coasts and Border Security Brigadier General Nasser Jaber Al Nuaimi affirmed the Ministry of Interior's keenness to participate in DIMDEX to highlight the directorate's role in securing the country's territorial waters, and learn about the latest marine equipment that helps in the success of all security tasks related to the protection of Qatari waters, and to provide assistance to sea and beachgoers. He pointed out that the pavilion of the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security is one of the largest pavilions in the exhibition, which witnessed on the first day the visit of many delegations from various countries to see the capabilities and equipment of the directorate and the latest technology used by the directorate in carrying out the tasks entrusted to it. He added that DIMDEX allows the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security to learn about the latest naval equipment and meet with its counterparts in the various participating countries to learn about their experiences and expertise in the field of maritime security. He pointed to the important development the directorate has witnessed in recent years in the acquisition and development of modern marine boats and advanced reconnaissance aircraft, and the recruitment and training of its personnel according to the latest standards. In this context, he indicated that the directorate is in the process of establishing a "marine firefighting" to enhance its capabilities in carrying out its tasks and specializations. The Autogyro aircraft is one of the most prominent displays of the pavilion of the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security at the DIMDEX and it is a special reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft that plays an important role in assisting maritime patrols in detecting the coasts and monitoring the targets approaching them. Captain Ali Khajim Al Athba, an officer at the air reconnaissance department, explained that the aircraft plays a prominent role in reconnaissance of shallow water sites that large patrols cannot enter, in addition to its speed in reaching the sites of the required targets. He stated that the Autogyro plane is characterized by combining the features of a helicopter and a winged plane. In addition to its flight speed, it can remain above the target site for monitoring and control, he added, explaining that it can also be used in search and rescue operations, monitoring of beaches, monitoring of internal targets, and escorting ships. Captain Al Athba stated that this reconnaissance aircraft detects large areas and monitors any marine pollution operations, as it is equipped with high-level technological capabilities. (QNA)
