Doha, February 27 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani stressed the need for Arab and international forces into Syria with a view to securing safe areas for providing humanitarian aid and monitoring the ceasefire, but the problem is the Syrian side will abide by the cease-fire, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister enquired. Speaking to Al Jazeera TV Channel tonight, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister stressed that many issues are currently being discussed and that contacts are ongoing about an action to be taken as the situation there could not be accepted. On mechanisms for arming the Syrian opposition, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani said that self-defense is a legitimate right under the laws and the UN Security Council laws in particular .. Adding, "We of course hope that matters would be resolved provided that the Syrian government led by president Bashar Al Assad avoids escalation. There is talk about an action whether by arming the opposition or by securing safe areas. He also said that there are now serious discussions and several options within the international community about the forces but the question is: Are these forces to be Arab forces or Arab-International forces? HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister expressed hope that the situation there would not escalate further as this would lead to undesired consequences because of the excessive killing. (QNA)
