Qatari Premier Urges International Community to Take Practical Steps to Achieve Peace in the Region
Cairo, February 12 (QNA) - HE Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani has urged the international community to work hard in order to make peace in the Middle East a reality in which all parties enjoy security.
Addressing the Arab Ministerial Emergency Meeting on the developments of the Palestinian issue here this evening, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister criticized changing positions of some countries that sponsoring the peace process, which he said they change their commitments overnight, a matter which encourages Israel to persist in disrupting international legitimacy, he noted.
HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said such positions do not require condemnation and denunciation, but also require decisive rejection " .. He referred to the withdrawal of these sponsoring countries from the role of effective mediation, and their inability to convince Tel Aviv to hear the voice of reason. HE the Premier and Foreign Minister considered these positions as a blow to the peace efforts, and encouraging Israel to exercise more obstinate and persistent breach of principles and international norms and conventions, and the total disregard of the road map, and disregard for the Arab initiatives as well as regional and international efforts to find a just solution to the Palestinian cause, he added.
HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister stressed that the Palestinian question is a central and pivotal issue , and one of the strongest pillars of Arab politics, and of its most prominent features and principles, and most obvious, and most sensitive .. He said by such concept the Arab message for the peace process sponsoring countries was very clear.
HE the Premier and Foreign Minister added that the Arab message confirmed that the just and comprehensive peace is the strategic option for the Arab side representing every right and absolute justice and comprehensive process that cannot be divided , and it will only be achieved by Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Palestinian territories, the rejection of all forms of settlement, and the establishment of independent Palestinian state with sovereignty with East Jerusalem as its capital.
HE the Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani further said: "We are facing a scene involves remarkable and growing changes in the region which in turns impose new challenges to the peace process, especially in light of Israel's continued evading and intransigence in responding to the Arab and international initiatives calling for reviving of the peace process. "
He said that the best evidence of the Israel's rejection to the peace is the continuation of Judaizing process and settlement, while knowing that the settlement freeze is a prerequisite for the resumption of any negotiations.
HE the Premier and Foreign Minister expressed hope that the Palestinian reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas movements in Doha, based on the Cairo Agreement would be an advanced step towards unity, ending the painful differences painful so that all could shoulder their full responsibility to restore the Palestinian issue to the fore in order to be a priority for the international community concerns .. He added that this will only be achieved by completing the reconciliation, adopting collective action, and giving priority to the national interest.
For his part, the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the transitional government to be chaired by him has two goals including holding the elections and the reconstruction of Gaza .
Abbas said in his speech to the Arab ministerial meeting, "We have agreed with Hamas movement under the auspices of the State of Qatar to form a transitional government of technocrats. (QNA)
